The members of our Winterfest committee are a diverse group. We have people that have a family history of over 100 years in the area to newly retired and relocated.Over the next month we will provide some insight as to why each of us is so engaged in Winterfest 2018. Today, meet ROBERTA MURRAY-HIRST, CO-CHAIRMAN of our committee....
It is with great pleasure that I am working with new friends on the Winterfest 2018 event. My family has been in the Collingwood area for over 30 years. We love the four seasons and the commitment to community that is shown by so many. I am a retired educator. The Lighthouse has always been intriguing to me. When our boys were young, my family spent many hours at Sunset Point where the Lighthouse was a significant sign, a benchmark for us. After retiring from teaching, I took some time to decide where to put my energies. When asked by Gary Norman to help establish a new event in support of the Lighthouse, the timing was perfect. I love being involved in creating new opportunities in our community and the preservation of our Lighthouse was a need that I could fully support.
